Sareem “20 SOMETHING” Is the Song for Anyone Trying to Make Sense of an Insane World

“20 SOMETHING” is the new single from independent artist Sareem, released August 7, 2026. It’s a song about isolation that refuses to feel sorry for itself angry, funny, and unexpectedly sexy all at once, built to make people who feel alone realize they’re not the only ones. Stream it on Spotify.

There’s a specific kind of lonely that doesn’t look like lonely from the outside. You’re surrounded by noise group chats, feeds, a world that never stops talking and somehow it makes the isolation louder, not quieter. That’s the feeling Sareem set out to bottle with “20 SOMETHING,” and it’s why the song hits like it does: it doesn’t ask you to be sad about it. It asks you to get a little pissed off, laugh about it, and dance anyway.

The Story Behind "20 SOMETHING"

Sareem didn’t write this song from a place of vague angst it came from watching people close to him carry real weight while performing “fine” for everyone else:

"Hearing stories of how many people close to me go through it daily while wearing a mask for the public is what made me want to write this song."

The timing sharpened that idea into something permanent. In May 2022, Sareem released an album on the same day as the Uvalde school shooting. Going into work the next morning, something clicked:

"It hit me that our culture is to just make the next day happen and push that stress downward. The more you keep pushing, the more pressure keeps building. Eventually it has to break."

That’s the emotional core of “20 SOMETHING” not sadness, but pressure. The specific, exhausting pressure of your 20s: relationships that test you, a culture where prejudice keeps getting mainstreamed instead of pushed back, and the daily effort of showing up normal when you don’t feel it. Sareem’s answer isn’t to sit with that pressure alone. It’s this:

"No matter how alone we feel, we're all in it together once we realize it."

Sareem is clear about the audience, and it’s bigger than any one experience:

"This song is for anybody feeling like they're losing themselves in an insane world. It's a sexy revolution, and when shit goes down, we'll be lookin fly in the history books. We in together, MUD DAWG FOREVER!"
