Utopian Knights, a boom bap/battle-rap duo from the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia), released their sophomore album THE4EVANOW on September 7, 2026. Produced entirely by Stereo Schizo using only an MPC sample, the project trades the group’s earlier social-commentary edge for a wider, freer exploration of an artist reconnecting with the pure love of making music. Stream it now on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
Who Is Utopian Knights?
Beats and rhymes. Or just beats. Either way, they’ve got you covered.
Utopian Knights is a boom bap, real-rap outfit built on an unfiltered love of hip hop and art. Hailing from the DMV the shorthand locals use for the DC, Maryland, and Virginia metro area the group carries an underground aesthetic shaped by battle rap grit and social commentary flare. It’s the kind of sound that doesn’t chase trends; it comes from a scene that’s spent decades perfecting the art of saying something over a beat that actually knocks.
That lineage matters for understanding what THE4EVANOW represents. This isn’t a group discovering hip hop’s foundations for the first time it’s a group returning to them, on purpose, after having already proven they could do the socially conscious, insular underground record.
THE4EVANOW: A Reconnection, Not a Reinvention
THE4EVANOW is Utopian Knights’ second full-length album, released September 7, 2026. Where the group’s earlier work leaned into an insular, socially conscious brand of underground hip hop, this project shifts gears. It’s a more expansive listen one centered on the duality of an artist who has reconnected with his overall love of music and art, and who has made peace with creating freely inside that realization.
There’s no gimmick in the title. THE4EVANOW captures exactly the tension the album lives in: honoring where the artist has been forever, while staying fully present in the now. It’s a record about permission. The permission an artist gives himself to stop performing a lane and start just making dope shit again.
The entire album was produced by Stereo Schizo, using nothing but an MPC and a single sample source per track. That constraint-driven approach is part of the point. Sample-based production has always been one of boom bap’s defining textures, and by working exclusively within that framework, Stereo Schizo keeps the sonic identity locked into the tradition Utopian Knights comes from even as the subject matter opens up.
Together, artist and producer use THE4EVANOW to celebrate a shared reconnection: the instinct to create without an agenda, and the joy of following that instinct wherever it leads.
